Google launched one more social product, which is again a failure. Although it is very early to call it as failure, but still it has not done anything. Google plus one is just a button, similar to Facebook like or Twitter’s tweet. When some one says facebook like it will be shown to friends. But whats with Google’s plus one, after all it makes the users to create a google profile to use this button from there one it just shows the like pages. Who is going to see a empty Google profile for seeing +1 pages.
It has no integration with Orkut or buzz, so there is a less chance for people to know about the +1 up pages. So what is the advantage of making plus one button? It will help you to get more rankings in google ? Well we are not sure about that, but expect a lot of spam coming that way. And google could have used face book like’s instead of creating the own button. Google also tried the “bucket test” (which google performs in serach engine or other prodcuts) in search results where they tried to make space to insert plus one button or including other social components. The test was a complete mess and it was reverted to original state in 3 or 4 hours.
And existing products like Youtube is not sync with plus one button, people will get simply confused with plus one button with like and dislike. What are they doing together? What is the purpose of having both on the single page ? Only google knows. I feel the search engine giant should come up with social product with a lot of thinking or acquire a basic social networking site and promote (which usuall google does for other products).
Google’s worry continues as no one is clicking Buzz although it is in gmail , Wave was given to apache as open source product and now plus one, i don’t know what is the future of plus one.
